Celebrate Redditch’s Story at Heritage Open Days 2026

There’s a lot more history in Redditch than we sometimes realise.

From our world-famous needle-making heritage and the story of Royal Enfield, to our historic buildings, public art and the people who have shaped the town over the years, Redditch has a story we can be genuinely proud of.

This September, Redditch Heritage Open Days 2026 is a chance to get out and discover more of it.

Taking place from Friday 11th to Sunday 20th September, there’s a packed programme of events happening across Redditch, with plenty to see and do. Many of the activities are completely free too.

Discover a different side of Redditch

Redditch Local History Museum will be running a number of Heritage Walks, giving you the chance to explore the town and hear some of the stories behind places you might walk past every day.

There’s also plenty happening at St Stephen’s Church, including special Tower Tours on Saturday 12th September. The church itself will be open during Heritage Open Days, giving visitors the opportunity to step inside one of the town centre’s most recognisable buildings.

If you’re interested in finding out more about your own family history, Redditch Library is holding a Genealogy Workshop on Saturday 12th September. Places need to be booked in advance, so make sure you plan ahead if you’d like to take part.

Celebrating the industries that put Redditch on the map

Redditch has a proud industrial history, and some of the things made right here in our town became known around the world.

On Sunday 13th September, Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordesley Abbey will be taking part, offering a fascinating look at the needle-making industry that made Redditch famous, as well as the area’s much earlier history.

Then, of course, there’s Royal Enfield.

The Royal Enfield Bullet Sculpture can be visited throughout Heritage Open Days and is a great reminder of Redditch’s connection to one of the most recognisable motorcycle names in the world.

On Saturday 19th September, you can also discover more about Redditch’s famous Paolozzi Mosaics with What Do I See? Past & Future in Redditch.

The Redditch Carnival Street Festival will also be taking place on Saturday 19th, adding even more to what promises to be a busy day in the town.

Be proud of where we come from

Sometimes it takes something like Heritage Open Days to remind us just how much history we have right here on our doorstep.

You might have lived in Redditch all your life, moved here more recently or simply be visiting for the day. Either way, there’s always something new to discover about the town.

Redditch Heritage Open Days runs from Friday 11th to Sunday 20th September 2026. Many of the events are free, although some tours and activities need to be booked in advance.

So have a look at what’s happening, pick something that interests you and get out there and explore.

There’s plenty to discover and plenty for Redditch to be proud of.
