Remembering Together: Remembrance Sunday in Redditch Town Centre

On Sunday 8th November, Redditch came together for the annual Remembrance Sunday service in the town centre.

Hundreds of people lined the streets as the parade made its way through the town. Veterans, serving personnel, army and air cadets, Scouts, Guides, Brownies and the band all marched together. Families, residents and local businesses gathered at the war memorial to pay their respects.

As the Business Improvement District, we were honoured to lay a wreath at the memorial on behalf of all the businesses within the Redditch Business Improvement District. Our town centre businesses are part of the fabric of Redditch, and it felt right that they were represented on such an important day.

The two minutes’ silence is always a powerful moment. Seeing so many people of all ages standing together in the heart of the town showed just how much this day still means to Redditch.

Thank you

We’d like to thank everyone who organised the service and the parade, and everyone who took part. A special thank you goes to the veterans and serving personnel who joined us, and to the young people from the cadets, Scouts and Guides, who did the town proud.

Thank you also to the town centre businesses who supported the day, and to everyone who came along to remember.

Lest we forget

Remembrance is about more than one day in November. It’s a chance to stop, reflect and remember the people who served and those who never came home, and to remember what their sacrifice gave us.

From all of us at Redditch BID, thank you to everyone who made this year’s service so special.

We will remember them.
