Small Business Saturday 2025: Shop Local in Redditch

Saturday 6th December 2025 marks Small Business Saturday, and Redditch BID is calling on everyone to get behind our town’s independent businesses this festive season.

What is Small Business Saturday?

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign that takes place on the first Saturday of December each year. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the UK’s 5.45 million small businesses and encouraging communities to shop local and support the independent traders who bring character and vitality to our high streets.

Since launching in the UK in 2013, Small Business Saturday has grown into a nationwide movement. In 2024, over 15 million people across the country supported a small business on the day, demonstrating the public’s commitment to keeping their local economies thriving.

Why Shopping Local Matters

When you choose to spend your money with an independent business in Redditch, you’re doing far more than simply making a purchase. Research shows that for every £10 spent in a small shop, up to £7 stays in the local economy. This means your money supports local jobs, helps families, and contributes to the services and facilities that make Redditch a great place to live and work.

Beyond the economic impact, shopping locally offers a personal touch that simply cannot be replicated by large chains or online retailers. The independent businesses in Redditch town centre provide expert knowledge, personalised service, and unique products. The people behind the counters aren’t just staff they’re your neighbours, fellow community members, and passionate advocates for our town.

Discover What Redditch Has to Offer

Redditch town centre is home to a diverse range of independent retailers, from specialist boutiques and family-run cafés to professional services and unique gift shops. Small Business Saturday is the perfect opportunity to explore what’s available on your doorstep and discover new favourites.

Whether you’re starting your Christmas shopping, picking up gifts for loved ones, or simply treating yourself, you’ll find quality products and warm welcomes throughout the town centre. Many businesses will be offering special promotions and events to mark the day, making it an ideal time to visit.

It’s More Than Just One Day

Whilst Small Business Saturday provides a dedicated moment to celebrate independent businesses, the message extends throughout the year. Every time you choose to shop local, you’re voting with your wallet for the kind of town centre you want to see one that’s vibrant, diverse, and full of character.

The festive period represents a crucial trading time for independent businesses, with UK households spending over £20 billion during the ‘Golden Quarter’ from October through to the post-Christmas sales. Up to a fifth of Christmas spending goes to independent firms, meaning your support during this season can make a real difference to businesses planning for the year ahead.
