Redditch BID was delighted to welcome Steve Mackay, Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia, to Redditch town centre today.

Steve’s role supports the Police and Crime Commissioner in engaging with communities across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire, helping ensure local voices are heard and reflected in community safety priorities.

Accompanied by members of the Redditch BID team, Steve joined a walk through the town centre to visit a variety of businesses and hear directly from those who live and work here every day.

Many traders shared positive feedback about the work being done locally, including improved visibility of officers, the continued support from the BID, and the value of partnership working. Others also shared ideas and honest reflections to help shape future priorities.

Steve left with a wealth of valuable insight to take back to the Commissioner’s Office highlighting once again how effective collaboration between businesses, the BID, and the police can make a real difference on the ground.

Visits like these help to strengthen understanding, build trust, and keep everyone working together towards one shared goal: a Redditch town centre that’s safe, welcoming and full of life.
